The Mold Doctor is an electro-spark metal surface deposition and hardening (coating) machine using arc spark effect in the air. The electrode material made of alloys is dissolved and deposited onto the metal surface. The temperature of the spark point ranges from 8,000 to 25,0000 degrees Celsius; however, no heat accumulation occurs during diffusion and deposition periods due to the extremely short pulse period (compared to the interval period). The electrode material changes into an ionized state, and the spark blocks out air, moisture, and carbon monoxide. The electrode material deposits itself on the surface of the work piece without changing the properties or dimensions. It creates a strong metallurgical bond, and the material will never separate from the surface of the work piece.
